Mary grew up in the Shawangunk mountain of New York and has been hiking since she could walk. She moved to Asheville to attend UNCA to play Division 1 volleyball and softball.

Mary has her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of North Carolina Asheville and her Master’s degree in Human Resources from Western Carolina University.

She also holds a Certification in Spiritual Direction from Richmond Hill in Richmond Va.

Dana has her Bachelor’s in Psychology from James Madison University and her Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been a practicing psychotherapist for the last 13 years, working mainly with adolescents and adults. This year Dana co-founded Mantra of Wellness. She has specialized over the years in resilience and growth following traumatic events. Dana has also used journaling and mindfulness as modalities.  Women’s empowerment has been at the forefront of her practice and looks forward to expanding on her skills at Dogwood Healing Pathways, providing opportunities for growth and healing in nature.

Dana is originally from Richmond, VA, where she was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors at the coast, rivers and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, alongside the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Dana began hiking and trail running 6 years ago during a major life transition. She found this time to be healing and therapeutic, which ultimately led to the co-founding of DHP.

Dana has additional certifications in Wilderness First Aid and CPR.

Together Dana and Mary bring years of education, along with practical and professional experience to Dogwood Healing Pathways - empowering women in nature through hikes and backpacking retreats. When they are not on the trails, you can find them on the golf course, tennis court, mountain biking, paddle boarding, kayaking, chilling out at a local brewery or enjoying the local music and food scene of asheville.
